editting modes in word documents

    • Type over/ overtype/ overwrite is a feature in ms office word that replaces the character positioned on the right side of the cursor as the user types.
    • Insert mode is a feature in word that allows the user to add a character in between a word or phrase without erasing the existing characters. It pushes the existing text to the right as you type.

    The two modes are alternayed by pressing the insert key on the keyboard. They varry depending with operating system however to activate the modes:

    1. Click the Microsoft Office button and click Word Options.
    2. Select Advanced.
    3. Click the option to Use Insert key to control overtype mode.
    4. Click OK.
